The Cameron Station Civic Association was formed in March 2000, and immediately became involved with issues important to Cameron Station residents including:
  • Working with city staff to provide traffic-calming in Brenman Park
  • Stopped plans to build a 120-foot high-rise in Phase IV of Cameron Station
  • Defeating plans to build a road connecting Duke and Eisenhower through Brenman Park
  • Defeating plans to construct a staging area for Wilson Bridge construction near Cameron Station
  • Working with city staff to provide "countdown" lights for pedestrians and additional turn lanes on Duke Street into Cameron Station Blvd.
  • Urging City Council to require environmental/health improvements and air quality monitoring at the Virginia Paving facility
  • Urging city staff to install a "tot lot" for 2- to 6-year-olds in Brenman Park (construction scheduled for April, 2007)
  • Many other projects and issues over the past seven years
